Song of the Day: Existentialism on Prom Night, Straylight Run
...so i found that song while streaming an indie rock station and doing physics/chem journals last week, and i decided that i would post about it (and probably other stuff). it's actually a really good song, despite the fact that it's lyrics seem kind of...meh (betsy: "cute"). the way it's sung makes it sound okay, and i liked it a lot. mebbe i'll look into this "straylight run"...
oh, hey, that's funny. meh.
...been thinking about music a lot lately. tried to find some hardcore techno a while ago, and came up with gabba, which is, apparently, the techno-jargon for it. looked more and found this "prodigy," apparently some pioneering band in gabba. bought an album, apparently, arguably, their worst, and it's got some really cool tracks and a couple that really suck and are pretty much bad rap--that was kinda disappointing. i've also been looking for that mogwai, "young team"...with absolutely no luck. well, without dishing out like $25, which i definitely don't have right now...and ratatat? mostly the same deal. hrm...mebbe i'll actually spend more than 15 minutes searching. but then, mebbe not. well...it's not like i'm really busy anymore, but with the recent amazing google features, and all the convenience of news searching that it entails, i've been reading a lot of stuff lately.so basically, not much on my mind of late. wait, that's not true; i've been thinking about a lot of stuff, but none of it has really been stressful. and that'll definitely be an example of me already forgetting stuff from latin; there was definitely a term for that (you know, me saying "none of it has really been stressful" when i actually mean that very little of "it" has been), but i totally can't remember it, and i'm definitely not about to start trying to remember. oh, and i apologize for overusing "definitely;" i know i do it, no question about that, but it's so convenient and applicable...or at least comical in my mind, and makes me kind of laugh...on the inside...or something...you know, mebbe.
...oh, yeah; and, because it's been so long since i've posted, i've been using "a href" and "/a" around my links, but i can't remember if that's the right code or not. with my luck, that's probably for images. wait, no, because that's "img src=" and "/img"...mebbe i've got this down after all.
...oh, and for all you ipod users, this just in; definitely a HUGE plus for ipodders--they can now use winamp to port their music, and even rip off of ipods! yeah! among other great things that the proprietary itunes doesn't let them! woo! makes me want an ipod now, too, actually; but i have my mp3, so i'm happy enough. but speaking of winamp...there's been a new critical security update, so i uninstalled my old version (5.03--yeah, really old) and downloaded the newest one (5.091). having downloaded straylight run's one song on purevolume, imma close some stuff, reinstall, and hopefully grow to admire the band a little more. peace.
with one day of school remaining, i've almost survived another semester, the worst one yet.
edit: first published around 7:30ish, but the blog was down for a while. i looked for help on help.blogger.com or something in vain, then emailed the people. turns out that, as stated on status.blogger.com (or something), they've been having some hardware problems today, so some blogs are down. that means that you won't be able to see this for a while yet. however, i'll update the time stamp.
...so that straylight run? turns out they're a branch from taking back sunday when two of their band members left. however, they're like 20 times cooler because they have both a female singer and a piano in their band. yeah, you wish you were that cool. in fact, the girl in the band is the sister of one of the other band members, and she herself plays both the piano and the guitar for the band. pretty sweet...i may go out and get one of their albums, since, you know, ratatat and mogwai are too popular ro (typed it like that the first time and decided to leave it; read: "for") me. meh. it's because i'm kinda bored. uh oh, karma closes at like 8:50 or something, though, so imma have to head out quickly. adieu.
edit: secondly published at like 8:20ish. anyways, got back a bit ago. mark passed me as i was waiting to pull out of edgelea, so i followed him....wherever it was taht he got gas, i can't remember, then stopped and said hey. he finally got his driver's license again, after losing it like six months ago at a swim meet, so he was getting gas and heading out to wal-mart for a wallet/mom buying stuff (he took her along). so from tehre i went to karma, and, for the first time in months (or, at least, literally, weeks) i was able to find the album for which i was searching--straylight run's self titled debut. it's pretty good. i'm listening to it right now, and a few tracks are a little more emo that i would have expected, but most of them are pretty awesome. and, of course, the two that i'd heard before are really good--"existentialism on prom night" (a single) and "your name here (sunrise highway)."
...alright, mebbe this post is done now. i dunno...i keep talking about all these things that i plan to write about at the beginning of each of my posts, then end up just...not. meh. lemme know if anybody actually cares about that...(because comments are one way for me to tell whether people are actually checking this or not). for the last time (pssht...yeah, right), i close; good night.
...oh, but, of course, i decide to do this:
