One down and three point six. Well...okay, so it's actually one point six. So you can't sue me. Caltech takes three essays: how I found out about the school and what I think I can contribute academically and personally; one activity outside of math and science and its meaningfulness to me (is the prompt that I chose from two); and
"3. Please fill the rectangle below with something you think is interesting.
I have a vague idea to the effects of the first prompt, I'm working on the final revision or so for the second one, and I have a definite plan for the third part, but I haven't put it down on paper yet.
I have about one day. Wish me luck.
Oh, and, just in case you're wondering, last week went appoximately like this:
Sunday: wake up, finish PROFILE financial aid application, work on recommendation letter/general college stuff (almost all the former, though).
Monday: 6:00ish: start math homework. 7:30ish: start Latin homework. 8:45ish: go to school. 3:30ish: hand in first rec. letter package to Prof. Smogor (calc II, fall '04). Maybe swam later, maybe not. Can't remember. Homework, college stuff later.
Tuesday: 2:00ish AM: sleep. 6:00ish: wake up, homework. School, turn in rec. letter stuff to Mr. Wheeler (English, freshman/this year) and school report stuffs to Mrs. Williams (guidance), etc. Lunch with Mark Jedele at La Charreada. I think this was the day on which I crashed for about an hour and a half in the middle of the afternoon, missing swimming, but that may have been Monday. I'm pretty sure that I swam four times this week, though. Homework, college stuff.
Wednesday: 3:00/4:00ish AM: sleep. 7:00ish AM: wake. School, etc. Swimming. Just a bit of homework, lots of college stuff.
Thursday: 3:00ish AM: sleep. 7:00ish AM: wake. School, etc. Pretty poor piano practice (not much of a lesson). Gorbachev, swimming. Homework, college stuff. Tea. Lots of tea.
Friday: School, etc. Bit of college stuff, swimming. 8:00ish (probably) PM: dropping by LAN for a little bit. 9:00: home. 9:21: bed, sleep.
Saturday: 10:21: alarm goes off. Those thirteen hours of sleep approximately doubled the total for the week. Got yelled at by mom for sleeping so long. Plainfield, new "Metropolis" mall, open-air middle walkway thing--relatively cool, but devoid of quality stores except for Old Navy, and I didn't care for anything there (because they'd taken away the summer stuff (flip-flops), brought out the winter stuff, and overpriced everything cool). Went with Davis. He, Jedele, and I hit Wallie World later for sparkly, cottony, white Christmas tree skirts, black capes, witch hats, "Combat Chucks," and glow-bracelets for Jeanette's Halloween party.
Sunday: college stuff until about 2:30 AM: sleep. 1:30ish PM: yelled at by mom to wake up, mow lawn. Do so, then essay revision for much of day. Break for meal around 5ish. Young Dems meeting at 7ish, to which Jane, Luke, Davis, and I made it late--and nobody else at all. And then...working on college stuff until approximately now.
My thoughts? Well, swimming's been pretty cool, especially sharks and minnows with Andrew, Mischa, and me on Wednesday or so. It was surprisingly balanced. Now...this week isn't going to be too hot, either. SAT II Saturday: math level II and Chinese, so I'll have to brush up on...a lot of stuff. You know, after looking up whatever that stuff'll be. *Sigh*...Well, back to essays.
