good week

Current Mood/Status: pretty good
Currently Doing: homework (brave new world)
Song of the Day: Pickin' It Up, Hot Hot Heat

so yesterday...was pretty darn awesome. so awesome, in fact, that i decided to make an elementary post about it--elementary because it really doesn't have much to do aside from allow me to relive it and, perhaps, you to derive some kind of sick pleasure at this form of indefinite voyeurism.

so...just because i enjoyed the day a lot doesn't mean that either a) i can keep all of it distinct from today in my head or b) i can remember everything. well...the first definite thing that i do remember is going to get my textbooks for my depauw classes--you know, because i would be inclined to think it better to have them before the class starts so as to bring them in on the first day, right? anyways, walk into fine print...and see anna! woo! talked for a bit. harmless, by the way. and then realized that when she said that she'd been waiting "forever" in the line, she practically meant it. it stretched from the front desks off to the left...all the way down to the back counter...and about half way along the room again. horrible. well...walking down it to get to the "l" section, i saw a good few more people that i know, some actual college students, others...will cath. meh.

of course, since fine print didn't have my latin books, though, shortly thereafter i made my way to the dpu bookstore, where i managed to see...will cath! but i'm not sure if he saw me or not; if so, he probably just declined to say anything for the sake of not getting awkward, just as i did to him. got my textbooks, though (you know, two of which are freaking playbill-sized pieces of junk, and all of which total (three) cost some $60; didn't have to buy math, though, because calc III uses the calc II book! woo!), and saw...maddison on the way out! woo! super swimmer from my latin class, remember? yeah, that's right...(and while i'm on the subject, i think that i'll mention the fact that at least three of the six people in my latin class have been taking the language for seven years (entering their fifteenth semester), and i think the remaining two are classics or latin majors. um...oh, my.)

essentially, i saw all my depauw acquaintances and a half whil trying to get my textbooks, and that was pretty cool.

let's see...cross country practice entailed a forty minute run, =really, really light jog, me getting my group to go on a decent adventure, some ultimate, and seeing schimpf and running away, including attempting to stash my disc and failing (schimpf picked it up; andrew got it back later). pretty cool. my right hip which fell ill with "tendonitis," or so says the trainer? yeah, it still hurts a little, but all that really means is that i can't run really hard (it kills me, i'm sure you can tell) and i can't cut really hard in ultimate (which was actually a problem). meh. hopefully i'll be all fine and well for tomorrow's first meet. hopefully. hokum karum saturday, too; that should be fun. i'll be with johnny. our goal? probably somewhere sub-36 for those six miles. (let's throw in another) hopefully.

and that evening...i went home! and found that one could im through google talk's server, even though the program itself wasn't up yet! extra*or*dinary! so i definitely messed with trillian a bunch, basically failed, downloaded gaim, got it to kinda work, messed around a bunch more, informed john and tyler of these amazing developments, got them working on it too, fiddled a little longer, and then finally found that google.com/talk had come up and supported the 900k download of Google Talk. fan*tas*tic. that alone would have made the day, much less all the other happenings. totally got it to work, and i really like it. bit more on that topic in my xanga, and tons and tons of gushing about it will occur if one brings it up via im or verbally. stupendous.

of course, if Google Talk was the most eartshattering event of the day, for me, the most...reassuring? no...fulfilling? hah, no...rewarding? not quite...uhh...whatever...but, well, finally spoke to betsy after several failed attempts over the past...like...two days (prior to), and that was exceedingly nice (which would make it what?). caught up ish, but she had a prior engagement (pssht) and couldn't talk for long. totally worth it, though. of course, there are always things that one forgets, and there were tons of things that i meant to ask (to several of which i just didn't get) and things that i'd meant to mention, but one of the biggest for which i wish i'd had time was gtalk. if she'd been able to hang on (and delay calling her new grinnell-friend (a gfriend? no...it's cool, but not nearly that cool)) for another twenty minutes, she may have made the news; but not quite.

ah, well. and, of course, i'm sure that if you're reading this, you've received an invitation to gtalk...which is, i might add (yet again) su*perb*ly excellent. unbe*lie*vably astounding. it's stunningly simple and everything; i love it.

oh dag. i just realized that it's almost 11:30 and i haven't finished my brave new world reading yet. or the response. um...*truncat'd*, but i was about done anyways. need...sleep...especially before cross country meet days...and late, late nights--you know, because i not only have tons of high school homework, but way, way too much for depauw, too. =P...so tomorrow, message me at two am when i need some support, will you? appreciated.
