fantastic week

Current Mood/Status: pretty good
Currently Doing: comput0r
Song of the Day: Guitar, Cake

So...I've been meaning to write a whole lot for a while, because tons of stuff has happened, and almost everything's been good. Chronology is a good place to start, but I'm not about to remember everything.

Last Saturday was the Hokum Karem cross country meet. Went well enough; I'm not about to go into it in detail because I don't find it extraordinarily interesting and I doubt that anybody who doesn't already know what it is would be very interested; it will suffice to say that it's a relay-style meet, and I was paired up with Johnny for three miles each, alternating. Meh. We won, so we got 2005 champ shirts--all of which were either large or exra large, and none of which shrank well, but...we may do something about that some other time.

Let's see...I probably did other stuff Sunday, but it's too late for me to remember now. Uhh...oh, so Wednesday...right, I mentioned to a few people that a group of really cool ones gets together every Wednesday in the Dells at DePauw for some Ultimate--usually, apparently, two games: one with more or less random teams, then another sightly more balanced, hopefully. Well, of course, since it was Ultimate, I found my way over there at nine pm, when it started, and there was a very good turnout. Some...maybe eleven people aside from myself, along with a good four or five more drifting in as the first game progressed. Well...I was one of the last picks, probably not at all due to the fact that I arrived after a few people had already been chosen for each side. So as my team was walking to our end (I think we had to pull first, but I'm not sure; either way, we both started off around the center of the field, so we both had to walk), the others kinda introduced themselves to me, and I myself to them. So...they note that I'm kinda small and young-looking, and they enquire as to my class. Uhh...it ended up being yet another one of those, "Uhh...yeah, so I'm still in high school..." "Oh. Um...that's cool. A senior, I guess?" "Well...almost..." So, of course, I had to show off a bit to get them to actually play with me. That wasn't hard, though, since not only were most of them probably approximately Ty Buchanan or Andrew when he moves (well...maybe not quite *that* good) good, but there definitely weren't a lot of soccer players or frequent players aside from Haley Sherrow, a senior and Facebook friend who's played Ultimate with us at least once or twice in the past, who was on our team, and this other girl, because there was barely any strategic moving (i.e. cutting and defense) happening. Hah...I just kept running around the entire field (despite almost negative traction on the dewy grass and mud unshod--I think I almost wiped out twice before ever touching the disc, and did once--still before touching the disc, that is), totally unguarded, actually placing myself, and finally they sent the disc my way, whereupon I threw one of my better throws in a long time straight to where somebody was going--leading him into the goal. I was pretty happy about that. Slowly, they passed more and more to me, and our team dominated. It was about 10-4 or so at the end, when we called it. Wait...come to think of it, Haley was actually on the other team to begin with, I believe, for I was covering her. Nonetheless, she, that other girl, and I were probably the best three players, with the possible exception of one of those guys with whom we played Ultimate a few weeks ago on that run where Johnny, Andrew, and I got a ride to the fountain in Bowman and played with a few others. Unfortunately, he just cherry-picked most of the time, but had his share of good throws. I was able to save much, much more than my fair share of bad throws, and I made a good many stops about which I was proud. Well...so second game, I was pretty much double-teamed throughout, but still made a few good ones. We still won. Haley was on my side this time. Let's see...that one guy from Ultimate a while ago (whose name may be Brian...and who I also saw a few times approximately last Thursday, when we had some very nice rain and a stupendous run through DePauw--where I also saw a good dozen or so runners besides him), Kim Ryan Harper, and Haley were pretty much the only people that I knew there. And it was good.

I'm going to post this much because I now must go to a Young Democrats meeting. I'll probably leave this in and edit the rest of my week onto the end when I get back. Then again, I may just do all of my homework instead. (post started at 1:36)

If I could think of anything relevant to anything other than a sonnet, I'd leave a better comment. But as it is, you're stuck with this one until a later date...maybe.
